Biography of Stand up Comedian Stephen Lynch

Stephen Andrew Lynch, born in Abington, PA but spent his childhood in Michigan, is a comedian, musician, and actor who is best known for songs that poke fun at pop culture and are a satirical commentary on daily life.

His work has been released on three albums, including “A Little Bit Special” (October, 2000), “Superhero” (January, 2003), and “The Craig Machine” (October, 2005), along with a live show on DVD, “Live at the El Ray” (September, 2004). After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1993 with a BA in Drama, Stephen Lynch moved to New York City in 1996 to pursue acting full time. During this time, Stephen Lynch also began writing comedic songs and wound up performing the songs in various comedy clubs and other venues.

In 2000, he signed with What Are Records?, followed by Vision International in 2002, and began touring all over the US, eventually progressing to esteemed locations as The House of Blues, The Town Hall and even the Kennedy Center. As his exposure increased, Stephen Lynch began making appearances on a variety of television programs, including Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend”, “The World Comedy Tour”, “The World Stands Up”, and “Last Call with Carson Daly”. In 2000, Stephen Lynch broke into the national spotlight with his “Comedy Central Presents” special, one of the highest rated programs in the network’s history. Stephen Lynch has also opened for a number of well-known comedians, including Jay Mohr, Jeff Foxworthy and Lewis Black, as well as co-headlined a tour with Mitch Hedberg in 2004.

Stephen’s professional credits expanded to include parts in five films, including “The Love Seat” (1999) and “The Confetti Brothers” (2001). In 2006, Stephen Lynch debuted on Broadway in the musical “The Wedding Singer” as the main character Robbie Hart, earning him a Tony Award nomination. After his Broadway tour, Stephen Lynch toured as part of the “Opie and Anthony Traveling Virus Comedy Tour 2007”. Stephen Lynch’s international following led him to headlining a European tour in 2008, where he played Sweden, Norway, Holland, Finland, Scotland, England and Germany to nearly sold out crowds. It is rumored that Stephen Lynch is currently working on a new album that is set to release in late 2008.
